Dennis R. Luna

Dennis is the managing partner of Luna & Glushon. With over thirty-six years of legal experience, he is considered one of the top energy and real estate attorneys in California. In the area of oil and gas, he is one of the very few attorneys that holds a Masters in Petroleum Engineering, thus he brings a unique perspective to any energy matter. He also has expertise in sophisticated real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and majority stock interest sales. He has been a key advisor to large domestic and international clients with a focus on complex legal issues.
In 1988, Dennis joined the firm as a partner under its former name: Richman, Luna, Kichaven & Glushon. In 2004, the firm changed its legal name to Luna & Glushon. With offices located in Century City and Encino, Luna & Glushon has built a successful practice with a client base that includes some of the largest corporations in the country.
Representative Professional Experience Includes:
- Represented an international oil company with respect to its unit ownership rights in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, the largest oil field in North America.
- Represented a client in the acquisition of multi-billion dollar oil and gas property in Kern County, California, formerly owned by the Belridge Oil Company.
- Lead attorney with respect to project finance documentation for oil and gas operating properties, both onshore and offshore.
- Represented a client with respect to all real estate matters in connection with the acquisition of a site for construction of a cogeneration facility in California.
- Significant corporate and real estate experience includes one of the largest corporate transactions in the history of Orange County and the sale of the largest remaining parcel of land on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
Civic and Professional Activities:
Dennis has served on many commissions in the City of Los Angeles. From 1989 to 1993, he served as Commissioner and Treasurer for both the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, the largest such agency in the United States, and the Community Redevelopment Financing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. He also served as a Commissioner of the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department and as an Alternate Commissioner on the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum Commission.
Also active in community affairs and public service, Dennis is currently Chairman of the Board of the Angels’ Flight Railway Foundation and was a former Director of the Economic Development Corporation of Los Angeles County. In 1999, he received recognition for his service as the Board Volunteer of the Year by the Los Angeles Area Boys & Girls Club of America.
Education:
Dennis is a graduate of Harvard Law School, is a licensed Professional Engineer and holds a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southern California, School of Petroleum Engineering. A native of Los Angeles, he earned two more degrees from the University of Southern California - a Master of Business Administration (1971), and a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering (1968). He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
